LAKHIMPUR: A training programme for Supervisors and Verification Team members regarding Orunodoi Month, 2022 to be commenced on August 20 was held in the Lakhimpur district on Saturday. The programme was held in the auditorium of North Lakhimpur College (Autonomous) under the management of District Development Commissioner Manoj Kumar Baruah. In his lecture, The DDC explained the aims and objectives of the upcoming Orunodai Month, 2022 along with details about the Orunodoi scheme.

"Orunodoi is a flagship scheme of the Government of Assam which was launched on October 2 in 2020. Under 'Orunodoi', monetary benefits have been envisaged for more than Rs 20 lakh for a poor household in the state. The schematic benefit has been enhanced from Rs 830- to Rs 1000 per woman. They receive the amount on the first day of every month, starting from October 2020. Women being the primary caretakers of the family are kept as beneficiaries of the scheme. 'Orunodoi' scheme provides Financial Assistance of Rs. 1000 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme to around 19.10 lakh families in the State", the DDC stated.

He further said, "Now the government decided to verify the beneficiaries of the scheme. For this purpose during Orunodoi Month, the students, engaged as verifiers will have to visit the homes of Orunodoi beneficiaries and update information through a mobile app. If there is any improvement in the economic status of the Orunodoi beneficiaries, then their names will be excluded from the scheme during this phase."

Addressing the students, Deputy Commissioner of Lakhimpur Sumit Sattawan said, "The State Government has established faith upon the students to make the process successful. They have entrusted a tremendous social responsibility of ensuring a free and fair verification process. It will be a great experience for the student. They will have an opportunity to learn out of their classrooms."

According to the Deputy Commissioner, a total of 97 supervisors and 528 verification team members have been engaged for the purpose in the district. In the programme, master trainers Mridul Borgohain, Sahidul Ahmed, and Rupam Gogoi conducted training for the supervisors and verification team members.
